The verdict

If money is no object, the AquaSense 2 Ultra is the most complete robot we track: it cleans everything, maps the pool with AI and skims the surface for up to ten hours. It is also more than three times the price of a Dolphin Nautilus CC, so for a typical rectangular pool it is a luxury, not a necessity.

What we like

  • The only robot here that cleans all four zones: floor, walls, waterline and the water surface
  • AI vision mapping with obstacle and plant-debris detection for multi-level and freeform pools
  • Longest rated runtime in this group (up to ~10 hours skimming)
  • ClearWater clarifying system and 5G/2.4G Wi-Fi with app scheduling

Watch out for

  • $2,500+ buys a lot of pool service — the value case needs a big or messy pool
  • Heavy (~26 lbs dry) for lifting out of the pool
  • Wi-Fi drops while it is underwater, so live control is limited to when it surfaces

  • Sources disagree on runtime and coverage (Beatbot lists up to 6 hr floor / ~3,875 sq ft; a hands-on review cites 5 hr / ~3,444 sq ft). We show the conservative 5 hr figure.
  • A separate "2026 Upgrade" Ultra listing sells at about $3,150 — check which version and accessories (caddy vs care kit) you are buying.

Specs are compiled from manufacturer listings and independent reviews and may change between production runs. Pool robots are re-listed and re-badged often, so confirm on the Amazon page before buying.

The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is the most capable pool robot we track: a cordless robot that vacuums the floor, climbs the walls, scrubs the waterline and skims the surface, with AI vision mapping and a water-clarifying system. It also costs roughly $2,550–2,700, which is more than three times the price of a Dolphin Nautilus CC. Whether that’s good value depends almost entirely on your pool.

Who the Ultra is for (and who should skip it)

Buy it if your pool is large, multi-level or freeform, or if leaves are your main problem and you want one robot to handle the floor and the surface. The AI mapping and “platform cleaning” are aimed at pools with steps, tanning ledges and irregular shapes where simpler robots miss areas. If you’re already paying a pool service $150+ a month specifically for cleaning, the cost calculator shows how a flagship can still pay back over several seasons.

Skip it if you have a regular rectangular pool with light debris: the AquaSense 2 at about $800 or the Sora 30 at about $1,000 do most of the same floor-wall-waterline work. Skip it too if weight is an issue, because at roughly 26 lbs dry it’s not a light lift.

Four-surface cleaning

Most cordless robots vacuum the floor and some climb walls. The Ultra adds the water surface: a skimming mode runs for up to about 10 hours, which is why it can stand in for a separate solar skimmer. The listing also describes a “ClearWater” system that uses an eco-safe clarifier to bind fine particles, with a clarifying agent kit included.

AI vision, mapping and app control

The listing describes a 4-core CPU, 27 sensors, AI vision that avoids obstacles and detects plant debris such as leaves, berries and nuts, and S- and N-shaped cleaning paths. It also describes an “AI Quick Mode” for faster cleaning of visible debris. Connectivity is 5G/2.4G Wi-Fi or Bluetooth with over-the-air updates. As with any cordless robot, live app control stops when the robot is underwater, so think of the app as a scheduler and status monitor.

Amazon’s own review summary for the product reflects the split we’d expect at this price: customers are satisfied with the cleaning performance, while opinion on value for money is mixed, and at least one reviewer says an older corded cleaner did better on the floor. That’s worth keeping in mind with a very new, very expensive product.

Runtime and coverage

Sources differ on the details. Beatbot’s own table lists up to 6 hours on the floor and roughly 3,875 sq ft of coverage; a hands-on review cites 5 hours floor, 10 hours surface and 4.5 hours for wall and waterline work, with coverage around 3,444 sq ft. We use the lower numbers on our comparison charts. For nearly every residential pool, runtime isn’t the limit. For how to read those coverage figures, see coverage ratings explained.

Reliability and warranty

The Ultra sits at the top of the price range, and at the time of writing its Amazon listing has under 100 reviews, so there’s no long-term reliability record to lean on. Beatbot’s table lists a 3-year warranty. Also note Amazon carries a second “2026 Upgrade” Ultra listing at around $3,150 with different accessories, so check the model and what’s in the box.

Bottom line

The AquaSense 2 Ultra is the best-featured robot here and the poorest value for a standard pool. If you have a big, leafy or complicated pool and the budget, it’s the one robot that does it all. For everyone else, one step down gets you 90% of the cleaning at under a third of the price.

AquaSense 2 Ultra FAQ

What makes the AquaSense 2 Ultra different from the AquaSense 2?
The Ultra adds surface skimming (it cleans the floor, walls, waterline and the water surface), AI vision mapping with obstacle and plant-debris detection, a larger battery, and a water-clarifying system. The standard AquaSense 2 cleans floor, walls and waterline only.
How long can the Ultra run?
Beatbot lists up to 6 hours on the floor and about 10 hours skimming the surface; a hands-on review cites 5 hours floor, 10 hours surface and 4.5 hours for wall and waterline work. We show the conservative 5-hour floor figure.
Is the AquaSense 2 Ultra worth $2,500+?
For most rectangular in-ground pools, no: a $800 cordless robot cleans the same surfaces except the water surface. It makes sense for large, multi-level or leaf-heavy pools where one robot replacing a vacuum robot plus a skimmer, with AI mapping, is worth the premium.
Can I control it by Wi-Fi while it's in the water?
Not live. Like other cordless robots it loses its connection underwater, so you schedule and monitor through the app and it reconnects when it surfaces.
